Nick Retterer

Our Story

Nick Retterer’s path in aviation was shaped early by family legacy. His father served as a helicopter crew chief in Iraq during the 1990s, and his grandfather was a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam who later flew Navy trainers and fixed-wing aircraft in Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up surrounded by aviation, discipline, and service, Nick always knew aviation would be part of his future.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace with a concentration in Professional Pilot from Middle Tennessee State University, completing all flight ratings from Private Pilot through CFII. Today, Nick is a Gold Seal CFII with experience spanning flight training, aircraft operations, aviation management, maintenance coordination, and aircraft ownership support.

That experience led to the founding of R3 Aviation Services, a company focused on making aircraft ownership more strategic, informed, and less stressful. R3 Aviation specializes in aircraft acquisitions, sales, valuation guidance, first-time buyer support, aircraft management, and long-term ownership consulting. Nick works closely with clients throughout every stage of the process, from sourcing and negotiations to inspections, training, and post-purchase planning.

With a background as a Professional Pilot, Chief Flight Instructor, and aviation operations professional, Nick brings more than just brokerage experience to the table. R3 Aviation Services was built on real-world aviation knowledge, trusted industry relationships, and a commitment to providing honest guidance, strategic insight, and professional support long after the transaction is complete.

I began my aviation career as a mechanic’s apprentice on a grass strip in Upstate New York, working on everything from vintage Piper Cubs to Beechcraft Bonanzas. That’s where my passion for aviation and commitment to meticulous maintenance began. After earning my A&P license in 2023, I moved my family to Nashville and began working on a wide variety of aircraft, from privately owned pistons to corporate jets.

My experience gives me a unique perspective in aircraft sales, especially when it comes to evaluating airframes and guiding buyers through the technical side of ownership. I’m here to bring clarity, care, and confidence to your next aircraft transaction.
